Opportunities and Challenges of FAIR Data at Photon and Neutron Facilities
Dear colleagues and friends of DAPHNE4NFDI,
We are excited to invite you to the DAPHNE4NFDI Bad Honnef Seminar 2025. The seminar, titled "Opportunities and Challenges of FAIR Data at Photon and Neutron Facilities" will take place in the Physikzentrum of the German Physical Society in Bad Honnef. The centre is located near the Rhine River in the historic town of Bad Honnef. This seminar will showcase the current state of research in the field of photon and neutron facilities and data while providing an interactive platform for knowledge.
This first DAPHNE4NFDI seminar in Bad Honnef focuses on fostering a shared knowledge base among physicists, and scientists from both theoretical and applied disciplines, including chemists, biologists, and materials scientists. Through a series of basic and introductory lectures, we will explore multifaceted aspects of data management, starting with the FAIR principles and streamlined workflows, as well as cutting-edge data analysis methodologies tailored to synchrotron and neutron data. One particular aspect will be on-the-fly analysis and machine learning techniques tailored to synchrotron and neutron data. We will discuss the integration of machine learning algorithms for data processing, analysis, and interpretation, thereby unlocking new avenues for scientific discovery and innovation. Furthermore, the seminar will address the challenges associated with the storage and management of big data generated by synchrotron and neutron facilities.
The seminar is designed to foster a dynamic environment that encourages meaningful conversations and collaborations. We expect dynamic plenary lectures and keynote talks, followed by thought-provoking discussions. Two poster sessions will showcase the cutting-edge research of young scientists, offering a unique opportunity to gain recognition through a prestigious “Best Poster Award”. Early-career group leaders will also take the stage with short, impactful presentations, creating a dynamic exchange between. We are confident that this seminar will inspire innovative approaches and collaboration across diverse research domains.
What to expect:
· A unique platform to connect and exchange ideas with experts and peers across disciplines
· Hands-on insights into state-of-the-art methodologies and technologies
· Opportunities for young scientists, PhDs, and postdocs to present their research, gain feedback, and network
· Stimulating discussions to develop solutions for the challenges of tomorrow
Please note that there is no conference fee, and participants will need to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses. If you require financial support, please contact the conference organizers for assistance. Participation is limited, and selection will be based on submitted applications and poster abstract.
We look forward to welcoming you in Bad Honnef and sharing this enriching experience with you.
